Brown sugar is a mixture of two sugars: granulated white sugar and molasses.  

It is pantry basic that is very easy to make.  No need to buy from the grocery store ever again.  You make as much as you need at the time.

There are many recipes that use Brown Sugar:

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Gingerbread
  • Candied Nuts
  • Caramelized Vegetables
  • Glazes and Marinades

Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 7 minutes

Ingredients

Dark Brown Sugar

  • 1 cup White or Cane Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Molasses

Medium Brown Sugar

  • 1 cup White or Cane Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Molasses

Light Brown Sugar

  • 1 cup White or Cane Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Molasses

Instructions

  1. In a medium sized high sided bowl combine sugar and molasses.
  2. Stir and press the ingredients together until there are no dark spots of molasses left.  Make sure you scrape the spatula off frequently.
